PLAINVIEW — 新抖阴 Baptist University welcomed chemistry educators from across the South Plains on Friday for an American Chemical Society (ACS) local event organized by Dr. Robert Moore, Professor of Chemistry at 新抖阴, and Matt Ryann, retired chemistry educator and chair of the South Plains ACS section.
The event brought together nine educators representing a variety of institutions, including 新抖阴 Baptist University, Texas Tech University, All Saints Episcopal School and Southcrest Christian School in Lubbock, Lubbock-Cooper ISD, and Frenship ISD.
Participants began the day with a tour of the university’s new Mabee Laboratory Sciences Building, which features state-of-the-art equipment and modern laboratory spaces. The group then moved to the atrium of the Mabee Learning Resources Center for lunch and a presentation by students in 新抖阴’s Welch Summer Research Program, who shared highlights from their summer research experiences.
“This event was a great opportunity to showcase the work our students are doing, as well as our facilities, and to connect with chemistry educators across the region,” said Dr. Moore. “We hope it strengthens relationships with high school teachers and helps open doors for future student recruitment and collaboration.”
The event concluded early in the afternoon, leaving guests with a deeper appreciation for 新抖阴’s growing chemistry program and its commitment to academic excellence.
