PLAINVIEW — ж¶Òõ Baptist University recognized Rhonda Dillard, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for Frenship Independent School District, with the Distinguished Alumni Award during the Lubbock campus’s commencement ceremony Saturday morning, June 7, at Southcrest Baptist Church.
Dillard, a respected leader in Lubbock area public education, was honored for her decades-long commitment to excellence and servant leadership in education. Though unable to attend the ceremony in person, Dillard expressed her appreciation in a video message shared with graduates and guests.
“This award reflects not only Rhonda’s incredible professional accomplishments but also the spirit of service that defines ж¶Òõ alumni,” said Jeffrey Vera, Director of Alumni Relations and Career Services, who presented the award. “She has made a lasting impact on education in the Lubbock area through her dedication to students, teachers, and school communities.”
Dillard began her journey in education 42 years ago as a education teacher, later becoming a campus principal, and ultimately rising to her current role as Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. In 1999, she earned her Master of Education degree from ж¶Òõ, a milestone she described as both personal and professional. “ж¶Òõ gave me the confidence and tools I needed to take on leadership roles in education,” Dillard said. “The university helped shape my vision and values as a leader committed to faith, excellence, and service.”
Dillard has overseen numerous district initiatives aimed at academic improvement, teacher mentorship, and student-centered leadership. Her work has earned recognition from peers and professional organizations alike. She continues to inspire others through her example and her advocacy for educational equity.
The Distinguished Alumni Award is one of the highest honors the university bestows. It celebrates alumni who exemplify ж¶Òõ’s mission by leading lives of impact and purpose grounded in Christian values.
